Blocking up

I've got a garage (with a door on it), with a car port next to it, shown here.

I want to knock a doorway through the left wall of the car port so I can get access between garage and port. I then want to block up the car port, then render the front at some point.

Can you help?

1/. I'm assuming its best to block it up? What sort of blocks would I need?
2/. Is it just a case of blocking it up, do I need anything else, like a dpc or anything?
