Boarding over artex!

You should't screw it to joist cos is not really solid and you can get some cracks in the future cos they are used for the floor above.

Screwing plasterboard to joists has been the "norm" for years. If the plasterboard is scrim taped properly it will stay up there with no cracks appearing in yours or my lifetime... ;)
