Some well known / big name ? Public Schools

Full of sexual predators and paedo
House masters / teachers

Sexual abuse seems to have been the norm

That's "just" the Fag system, where older boys have younger boys under their control.

You get it wherever people - particularly but not only men, have power over other people. Prisons, slave ships, churches, schools, armed forces, football clubs, closed social groups. I can't think of somewhere it doesn't happen.
If you subscribe to the view that everyone is on a spectrum of sexuality, then it's inevitable. I think probably some are, some aren't because they're right at one end, and some don't really know. Many would claim they were at the 100% hetero end whether they were or not.
It probably depends in practice on how keen you are to get your end away.

Read a few years ago that one study reported that 4% of adults have paedophile thoughts at some point in their lives. That's a lot of people. Obviously only a tiny fraction of those go on to fulfill their desires, but though to damage thousands of lives every year.

Some institutions are more likely to attract Paedophiles than others.
The Roman Catholic church in particular is a magnet for Paedos due to its policy of celibacy and exclusively male structure.

Doesn't mention anything untoward, but is really interesting. He points out that your time is filled up to the extent that you have no free time, that while you have great facilities at your disposal, you have to be doing something ALL THE TIME. He ascribes this to the reason why many come out screwed up.

I spent a year at boarding school in the early 90s. Worst year of my life.

I saw no evidence of sexual predators or paedophiles, but as an immature 13 year old it was like being thrown into a bear pit.

You needed to grow a very thick skin very quickly.

I went to a state school that most everyone in the area went to; the ambidextrous maths teacher was into school girls - regularly foundled the legs, backsides and more (under their skirts) of the 13yo+ girls in class. When I was in the fifth form he even exposed himself to a couple of them in his store room.

Was anything done about him? Well not that I was aware of - either when I was there or from a girlfriends little sister (mind you, she would have laughed!).

5th form school trip to Germany the class had a mixed dormitory - separate toilets but that was about it. The accompanying teachers had separate rooms.

I'd like to think it was a behaviour more frequent in previous generations. Now with internet and the press we have, it would come out quicker. No not that, the story.

I remember a very old guy where I first worked who joined up to the merchant navy in the 20's where predation was routine and rife. Stephen Fry wrote something about it in schools, in one of his books.

Lucky I never took up the offer or I could have been b***ed

Mind you some on the radio have received large finacial settlements over the caper 400 grand was mentioned

Perhaps I should have gone to said school ???? 400 grand well Er makes you think ???
