how do you stop boiled eggs from cracking in the pan?
I presume it's a side effect of buying cheap eggs as the shells are really thin.. the barn eggs seem to take more of a whack to crack them open..

pinhole in "sharp" end - allows a controlled release of pressure

put them in bubble wrap before you put them in the pan :D

Dont put eggs straight into boiled water. Put them in warm water and then bring it to the boil...........no more cracked eggs!

Leave your eggs out of the fridge for a good few hours to come down to room temp. before putting them in cold water then bringing it to the boil.

Why do people put eggs in the fridge?

They are not in the fridge in the shop or farm so why do it?

you could store them in water glass (sodium sillicate great for making chemical gardens)

I'm seriously starting to think I'm FAR too young for this forum!!!

It's all down to the change in temperature from being in the fridge to going into boiling water.

You either need to let them get to room temperature or put them in cold water in the pan then bring to the boil.

We'll be discussing collapsing souffles next.........................
