Boiler age?

When I was in a neighbours house the other day, I noticed she had the same type of boiler in her kitchen as we did when we moved in in 1990. A floor mounted boiler that draws its air from the room and has its own chimney going right through the ground and first floors and loft. She said she also moved in in 1990 and it was there when she moved in. The houses were built in the sixties so could well be the original! That’s bloody good, isn’t it?

My boulder is mid-late 1990s - I should replace it really, but it works and the Nest happily talks to it. When I eventually get round to an extension I will probably replace and ditch the hot tank at the same time.

Depends on the make/model - but although these old ones are "inefficient" what's the real cost of a new one every 15 years ?
