People,

Around 6 months ago I had a new boiler fitted in the loft by a CORGI registered plumber.

The existing electrics were pretty old, with fuse box and old colours.

At the time, access from the boiler down to the fuse box may have been pretty difficult.

The plumber has powered the boiler off of the primary side of the emersion heater switch with an inline fuse.

On Monday I have an electrician in to fit a new CU. Please could you give some suggestions on what the electrician will say about the boiler arrangement???

Kind Regards

Paul

Dont know what you mean by an 'inline fuse'

Do you mean a fused connection unit ( like a switch and a fuse in one plate)?

Strictly speaking the immersion should have its own dedicated supply with nothing else on it. In the real world it tends to get also used for burglar alarms, shower pumps and...central heating boilers.

You electrician may take pragmatic view and leave it as it is , or he may say it should be run as a spur from another circuit.
