Boiler pipe leaking, should I be concerned?

Personally I would obtain a different engineer, imo, you’re being sold a boiler unnecessarily. How much did you pay for a service, if you don’t mind me asking? Was it definitely a service carried out or more of a safety check?

Yes I have thought about getting another engineer to have a look. Would you advise it needs to be an Ariston specialist or just any gas safe engineer?

I paid £70. It was a service. He did take it apart, clean it out. I was with him most of the time and he showed me a lot of the gunk that was in there.

Funnily enough, when he first opened the boiler up, there was a bit of corrosion and areas he pointed out that would indicate it's a very old boiler (neither of us were aware of when it was installed) and he hinted that the boiler was on it's way out and might need replacing soon. I was a bit skeptical at this point as the boiler was running fine. However after he did his flue analysis, he did admit that he got it wrong and said the boiler was actually running efficiently so he took his earlier comments back (about replacing the boiler) which was surprising.

It was then after the flue analysis where I asked him what about the leak to which he responded that he didn't think it was an issue. It kind of felt a bit dismissive as if he'd forgotten to properly investigate that pipe but hard to tell.

I would ask the engineer if they’re familiar with Ariston or if they know what the issue could be before you commit to having them out, don’t tell them about our responses on here. If they state what it could be, write it down and ask us on here if they’re on the right tack, if they’re not we’ll likely tell you to give them a swerve.
