Hi,

We have a Combi Eco Range Main Boiler connected to a wireless thermostat (Salus make). The boiler is around 4.5 years old. The radiators in the house were not heating up after we came back from holiday. I tried bleeding the radiators but they seemed ok as there was no air coming out of radiators. I looked at the boiler and noticed that the central heating temperature control rotary switch was set to quite low temperature. I think I might have done this when I turned the boiler off before going for holiday. So I turned this switch to a higher temperature. Now the Radiators are all quite hot however the boiler seems to be not turning itself off. The thermostat temperature is above my set temperature, in fact the thermotstat does not show the icon indicating that the boiler is on. However if I see the boiler panel the central heating indicator as well as the burner on indicator both are on and Boiler seems to be continuously working. Can any body please help? thanks in advance

Your wireless thermostat transmitter unit may have lost it's communication link with the boiler receiver unit. Are the transmitter batteries OK. Try resetting the link to see if that helps

If you have motorised valves in your system then the wall thermostat does NOT operate the boiler. The valve does.

The cylinder thermostat does, if the valve is a 3 port one, but with systems fitted with two or more 2 port valves then the cylinder stat also operates the respective valve.

So rather than just checking the thermostats you might need to be checking the valves also.

It's a combi

As prev said. Try and re pair the thermostat and change the batteries. If that doesn't work then suspect dodgy wireless reciever. Those salus wireless stats are cheap rubbish.

thanks everyone for the responses. The batteries seemed ok (there was no low battery icon flashing) , albeit I replaced the batteries and also tried the reset option on the wireless thermostat / trnsmitter- the problem did not go away. I then tried switching off the Boiler which also switched off the power to wireless receiver. After a minute or so I switched the boiler on and since then the Boiler seems to be behaving. Being from the IT world I just tried the on / off trick :-), I hope this works.
