Advice and suggestions please!
We have a Gledhill Boilermate III with a Grundos pump and a Gloworm Ultimate boiler.
Our top PCB on the Boilermate was replaced in Aug 04 when we had neither heating nor hot water (not even via an Immersion).
First off the plumber forgot to reset the Boilermate system following the work. Then we thought we had a boiler problem - the cut off button kept kicking in when the central heating was turned on. The hot water also cut out when the CH was on.
Most notably, the boiler makes a repeated clicking sound (trying to ignite), the pump starts up (repeatedly) and we have two red flashing LED lights (keeping the same sequence as the boiler ignition) before the boiler finally cuts off.
Various bits have been replaced on the boiler, including the cut off valve, a fan and heaven knows what else.
This is an intermittent fault. The CH works fine when the boiler actually fires - it seems to cut out after a while though and revert to the clicking before cutting off.
This time, new repair guys looked at the Boilermate, they diagnosed the lower pcb to be at fault (as the hot water is fine without the CH).....and called Gledhill, who said no, it was two sensors - including the hot water one.
Today they replaced the sensors, the CH worked briefly (more to do with this being an intermittent fault than being fixed). The guys called Gledhill again who say that it COULD BE the lower pcb. Trouble is, we now face a high bill to find out.....
I wondered if anyone in this forum has experienced a similar problem and might be able to offer some pointers.
Cheers
Lou
PS
On the Boilermate, we have the three upper L/H green LEDs on and below them, two red LEDs flash in sync with the boiler clicking. Plus a red LED on the top pcb.
