Botched Execution

With a sick animal the anaesthetic is administered by hand and the lethal dose is often injected into multiple sites.

If they knocked them out and then injected the drug directly into the heart, there would be no survivors. But what doctors would be willing to do that? The remote control of the drug is part of the problem.

Long lines, cannulas etc

You don't know that.
Well my guess is it's less painful than using any of the stuff injected in USA. I'm told an animal just keels over dead.
Again IIRC, researchers now believe that the death is far from pleasant: a terror-riddled suffocation while fully conscious but completely paralysed.
Are you talking about US lethal injections? If so, yes, I've read that too.

One of the problems is that it's not a doctor killing her because of the Hippocratic oath. Its not even a qualified person. Cows & pigs get better treatment with a bolt gun. And it seems to work.

Couldn't whoever administers the lethal injection do an anaesthetic drug instead? Then when the victim is unconscious they can be killed by any method.

Can't see it catching on for executions. The bolt gun stuns the animal, whose throat is then immediately cut, to drain the blood (and kill it).

Maybe no doctor, but presumably prison staff who are prepared to administer the lethal injection would be up for it.
I still don't see why they use a drug which causes suffering before death, unless it's considered part of the punishment.

They must have read my post on here regards a firing squad. Well they are now going to live stream a firing squad killing, I cannot believe my luck. I will be glued in front of my TV with that and a tray of treats to eat whilst it is on. I wonder if they will do it like they did with the world cup and put on a fiasco of entertainers singing first or just go straight to the shooting. Exciting times I can't wait.

I don't get why it's so complicated. The vet managed to execute our two cats successfully when they were terminally ill and suffering, as they all do routinely.

Scale up the dose, job done surely? Or are "professionals" knowingly botching the job as a political protest? Whoops, missed the vein.
My thoughts too, hence later posts

Sick animals can be painlessly "put to sleep" with an injection, and when a patient is put out for an op he could easily be killed, again painlessly. The authorities must know this, so why is it not applied? My guess is it's because while execution isn't wanted to be too barbaric, it mustn't be completely trauma-free either, as where's the deterrent and retribution in that?
Dead people get deterred, even with a live stream. Meanwhile the number of murders in Amerrica is directly linked to the availability of guns.
