we have a conservatory where the long box gutter is supported by a tiny gallows bracket at the end of a door which is 3m wide. It has been in place for 16 years! We want to replace the gallows bracket with a support hidden in the plaster. If we had this made up as a 90 degree angle bracket of 20mm steel, fixed into the wall with bolts and plastered over, is this likely to be sufficient.
I suspect the alternative will be to replace the box gutter with a self supporting version but am I right in thinking the roof would have to come off to allow access?
