Bread maker

I have Panasonic SD256 bread maker, and it is not possioble to vary the settings that it comes up with when first switched on. The display shows: Basic, Rest, 4.00 hrs, and if left on it will proceed with those settings, but I would like to change some of these. I have tried unplugging from the mains, and pressing the START/STOP button for 5 seconds. Does anyone have any expierience of this fault.

Apparently same as the 257.
