Breaking: Labour Leader To Be Investiged Re 'Beergate' lol

The daily Wail is desperate to distract attention from our despicable dishonest Prime Minister Johnson, who lies to the nation, to Parliament, and to the Queen

Well, Stone me!

I'll drink to that.

And check if Raynor actually smiled at the Labour Party too.

Cheers

No doubt the govt threaten to cut Durhams Police funding.

Poor old Tories are desperate, everything is falling apart.

Oh did not know there was already a post on the caper

beer gate

another waste of time money and plod resources to investigate some bloke having a glass of beer :ROFLMAO:

jeez us wept :ROFLMAO:

I have no allegiance either way but Starmer might have ****ed in his chips here. Objectively, what is the difference between stopping work for a slice of cake and a prosecco and getting back to work - and stopping for a beer and pizza and getting back to work - or was it curry night? It's not much of a leap to see somebody at Durham nick thinking it's pretty much the same thing. Starmer had it basically handed to him on a plate but instead of spelling out issues and making clear his policies and proposals for dealing with them, he chose, at every opportunity, to yack on and on about how he was sick with disgust at the callous, lying, despicable little turd Boris for 'partying' while the rest of the country obediently followed the rules. Well, if Starmer does end up with a fine, he's not only stacked all his eggs in one basket, he's just tripped and thrown the basket off a cliff.

The wail does seem to be a distortion of what has been said and while I didn't check the people who tweeted I doubt if there is need to.

Well he will or he wont get a ticket. TBD. I saw one piece on the web where they decided to post a more recent shot of Starmer along with the usual comments in a different situation. I wonder why?

Apparently one adviser told a journalist:

“I just don’t want to get fined for having a curry with Keir Starmer. It was already a bad Friday night. The curry was bad and the chat was worse”.

I agree it weakens his position, mostly because the right wing media will frame it as equivalence and thus bring Labour down to Tory level.

There is a key difference which Starmer pushed and still can: Johnson misled Parliament.

I am not aware Starmer misled Parliament.

as regards comparisons:

No10 had 17 parties
Email invites were sent out
A suitcase full of plonk was wheeled back from 7 11
Johnsons wife was present at some
Their interior designer was there
A birthday cake identifies a celebration….AKA a party
