Brexit Is a Complete failure

Strange how the pound when it was in freefall to reach parity with the dollar there was lots of slavouring going on on here.
Now it's star is rising it's all gone quiet in that direction, strange but to be expected.

Like communism then. Reality not so good.
Dork likes to think he is the expert on Marxism, but I think the early exponents of common ownership, such as Jesus, genuinely thought they could improve conditions, especially for the poor, and Kibbutzniks thought they could change society for the better.

Experience, for example with Stalin, Trump and Johnson, show that a popular idea can be used by an unscrupulous leader to gain power and benefits for himself, leaving the common people no better off.

In parts of Britain, there used to be "commons," and other parts of Europe still have common ownership of land, but the Enclosure Acts and Highland Clearances dispossessed the common people and ownership was seized by those with wealth and power. The process continures today.

It appears one of the brexit agitator nutters has realised the truth...

"James Dyson has accused the government of having a "stupid" and "short-sighted" approach to the economy and business in the UK."

"A prominent supporter of Brexit with a fortune worth £23bn according to the Sunday Times Rich List, Sir James said the government believed it could "impose tax upon tax on companies in the belief that penalising the private sector is a free win at the ballot box".

"This is as short-sighted as it is stupid. In the global economy, companies will simply choose to transfer jobs and invest elsewhere," he warned."

But like all brexiteers, Dyson of course doesn't really care...

He just wants to feather his own nest further!

In response, asked about Sir James' comments, Sir John (Armitt) said "investment in the UK was "probably declining" in part because of the concern over regulatory changes with the EU following Brexit."

"I think we should as far as possible continue to comply with EU regs because that makes it easier for companies to compete in Europe," he added.

No sh*t sherlock!

Strange that The UK is still the only G20 economy that hasn't recovered to pre-covid levels. Hope the £ really does improve some time. I was getting 34 Czech crowns/£ - now it's 25.

Brexit dividends tomorrow! (y)

Low unemployment due to shortage of workers could be considered a Brexit bonus if you work in the private sector.

Reports are the pound is set to rise further due to an interest rate rise to 4% predicted for February.

I do, while we have this pm who's spunked money away like there's no tomorrow on the 'pandemic' which has got lost in the ether. Then you have this ongoing situation where the tax allowance been pegged year after year getting more and more into the net, then everythings up for grabs.
Some of that pandemic money could have gone too the 'waspie' women instead of being squirreled away in offshore bank accounts.
What say you Jack.

Where are these reports?

Interest rates have been rising, and yet the pound hasn't...

Care to tell us what the pound to Euro rate was pre brexit and what it is now?

And are you predicting the pound gets back to that pre brexit level?

Because otherwise the cost of living crisis is simply another extension of austerity, courtesy of brexit!

Actually it's lowest since brexit was 1.06 Euros...

It's level in the years before brexit was at it's highest 1.43 and lowest 1.26

Kind of tells it's own story...

And that ain't speculation ;)

Confirmation if it was needed from whatever starting point you start the pound is on the rise against the euro and dollar again. Which was the point I made that it doesn't get mentioned when it doesn't suit.

All you've confirmed is that you have no clue whatsoever...

Tell us again what the 'starting point' was before June 2016, and then enlighten us on when that laughable 'rise' will get back to those pre brexit levels...

Oh but that's right, you'll have to consult your unicorns first before posting your next financial fantasies
