Bricking a Door up - Do You need permission

We have a font and side door plus french doors at the back of the house, we want to brick up the side door which we do not use, as we have a door at the front and french doors at the back.

Do we need any kind of planning consent to brick up the side door ?
 
Speak to your local BCO. There may be implications as far as fire risk is concerned.
 
No planning issues, but there may be building regulation issues as nstreet says.
