Why don't British city names sound good in rock songs...?

Most US cities soud perfect for rock songs... Memphis, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Now York... the list is endless, but i can't think of any town or city (apart from London) that sounds cool... why is that?

ok then name the rock songs that use american names?

and queen is and always will be rock...

given the comparative sizes and lack of major british cities is it really surprising?

    london
    birmingham
    manchester
    cardiff
    edinburgh
    glasogow
    liverpool...

these are the only major cities I can name off the top of my head..
