We have a traditional (think its called vented) system, ie. boiler, hot cylinder, seperate pump, etc, etc.

The heating is OK on its own, but if I put the hot water on at the same time, the radiators go cold. BG changed the actuator in my valve, which made do difference.

Do any of the experts have any ideas so that I'm not in the dark?

Have you just moved in to the property?

You could have a diverter valve which will be hot water priority, or its been wired wrong..

has it ever worked?

sounds like it isn't wired up correctly
did BG change like for like? or did they put in a new different type?
get them back to sort it out
