broken wing nut on toilet

I'm trying to rmeove an old bottom-mounted toilet seat; the wing nuts were very rusted and the wings on one have snapped off completely. All my efforts to grab and loosen with pliers, spanners etc have only burred the nut so it's too smooth to grip. What can I do?

Remove the cistern and replace them.

Should be able to get a hacksaw blade in and cut it off .Or cut up seat mount from above which again will allow cut off with hacksaw .

You could try a nut splitter on the rounded off butterfly nut, or maybe just use a mole type wrench done up VERY tightly

Perhaps you could try using grips and snap the bolt by rocking back and forth

Sorted by sawing through bolt under top fixing with junior hacksaw! Thanks everyone for ideas
