well so far I see that you don't have to add RCD protection to new sockets "where the designer is satisfied that there would be no increased risk from the addition or alteration."

no password needed..

seems that rcd's for additiond and alterations are not needed either, again provided that "the designer is satisfied
that there would be no increased risk from the addition or alteration."

they've apparently realised that it was rediculous to have to try and make someone have an RCD fitted ( or a CU change ) for just adding a socket or moving a lightswitch..

seems you won't have to "part P" outdoor bulkhead lights anymore..
they are specifically excluded from the definition of "outdoor lighting installations"

Luminaires fixed to the outside of a building and supplied directly from the internal wiring of that building
whether you consider that to include things like PIR floodlights etc as well is down to your definition of "supplied directly"..

Isn't DRM fun? Acroread (the unholy, awful, bloated POS) will open it on Linux. I doubt anything else will..

Ah, that's the problem. Bloody DRM.

I'm downloading that Acroread now, I'll see how it goes. Cheers for the pointers.

they've screwed us on the abbreviations though..
it will no longer be a PIR.. it's now an "Elelctrical Instalation Condition" report..
so it's an EIC for a full rewire, and a EIC for a 10 year checkup...

Other than telling them who you are, where you've opened it, and how you're reading it, it'll go just fine.

So does that mean we all get a free 17th ed if we send ours back, or if you buy one now will it come with a part B, or if we hang on a few months will the current edition be updated mind you the 16th was reprinted about 4 times with god knows how many ammendments I mean who's kidding who here, what in essence has made the 17th so much more safer, better, that any other edition in recent years
Peed off

At least you won't turn up to do an EIC with an infra-red sensor ready to fit!
