I have a Hansgrohe Universal iBox and a Hansgrohe Concealed basin mixer valve to install.
The product data sheet says that the threads are Rp which I understand is for the parallel not tapered.
Please excuse me if the question may sound dumb and my lack of knowledge, but trying to learn from experts
So from what I read, since the valves are marked as RP on the valve body I need a BSPP (Parallel thread) fitting to thread into it because RP is parallel. But what is confusing me is that from what I can see a parallel thread connection usually means its those connections where the tip is flat for a rubber washer to compress and provide a tight seal so that water doesn't get past the rubber seal into the threads. So BSPP is sealed with a flat washer and not sealed at the threads using ptfe etc (my understanding so far
). So this is where I am confused because the Hansgrohe official user guide and youtube video installation guide shows them fitting a threaded connector to the valve body but there is absolutely no rubber washer but instead they show themselves putting something like Loctite 55 cord the equivelant to PTFE i guess on the thread and then tightening it. So this is where I am left really confused. So both the iBox shower valve and the Basin mixer valves have the RP female threads as part of the body. Do I get the BSPP (arallel thread) male thread connector to go with this or do I get the BSPT (Tapered Thread) male connector to go into the RP female connection? If BSPP, then does that not mean I need to put some sort of rubber washer to create the seal?
This is a tad bit confusing so would really appreciate some guidance and advice on this as I want to do it right the first time.
Thank you
