Doing a basic loft conversion and now need stairs.
Do I have to fit the treads between routered grooves in the strings?
Wny can't i just use blocks drilled to the string below each tread and then screws trough the tread into the block?
Any advice on the forum?
Thanks in advance.

depends whether you want it to stay together and not work loose and squeek over time. the treads should be fitted into routed grooves and wedged from underneath. Is it just a straight flight if so you can get one for around 200 quid, hardly worth the effort.
