Hi

Just wanted peoples opinions please.

I am removing a wall between my lounge and dining room (Load bearing), I have had drawing made up with regards to the steel that I need.

My question is do I have to get a building inspector come in and assess it or not??

Many thanks

It is notifiable work ...... but if you are doing it correctly, the pragmatic question is "does someone need to check that it is correct, and charge me for the privilage?"

Cue the follow-on "Well it will cause problems when you come to sell"

I take it this will cost me then??

Do you think they will start looking at other things as well??

I have done some work elsewhere in the house with regards to the Kitchen

Do you think I shoudl get all this cleared up first bfore getting the inspector round then

cheers for the help

No. They are not permitted to go mooching around.

If they pass something on the way in then yes they may comment or may not depending on how they feel.

In any case this will be one visit to check the beam in place, and then possibly one more when its all done
