Hi

Does anyone know if there are any regs about how near you can build up to a substation fence. We want to extend our house. There is a substation next door, that is within a fenced boundary. The actual substation is not the other side of where we want to extand, but along a bit. The area running adjacent to our property is a 2-3m wide paved path to the substation.
Also, do we need to issue a party wall notice to the energy company?

Regards

Graham

Please see image. Actually there is a part of the substation adjacent to the preposed extension, but main sustation is further down.

You need to check your land registry title register to see if there are any easements regarding the substation. Apart from that it is just a question of safety. i.e. you need to know there are no cables below ground that you might dig or pile into. So check the first with your title register and check the second with the leccy company.
