Apart from going the 'overhead' route, is there any way of avoiding having to bury SWA cable 450mm deep? e.g. if the cable were routed through suitable trunking or conduit? Can the cable be routed through trunking/conduit on top of the ground?

The cable is to be run along the perimeter of the garden under a hedge.

It would be a heck of a size of conduit because there is a 45% spacing factor.

In any case, conduit should be secured - can't leave it just lying around.

Overhead on a catenary wire, buried underground or clipped direct to wall are the only options.

Underground looks best, for obvious reasons. I would run the cable in 1 1/2 inch waste, buried at 450 with warning tape on top at spades depth.

No, Ban, that's ridiculous. Try 1200mm....

You don't have to put on the red light......
