Quite a few DIY posters have questioned why SWA cable still needs to be buried at least 450mm deep under concrete patios.

Well here’s why.

Before the new owners moved in they wanted the gate post between the patio and the drive replaced. It didn’t take the landscape gardener long to find this cable with his kango.

Ouch! That could have been very nasty. Is it RCD protected at the CU?

It doesn't need to be RCD protected, but if it was installed correctly there should have been a yellow marker tape or tiles above it so he should have spotted it before getting anywhere near the cable.
Now it will take a bigger hole to sort it out!

It's tough stuff is goold old SWA.

A direct hit from a kango, and it is still near enough intact :D
