My fusebox is making a buzzing noise, and my friendly electrician is on his holidays. What should I do? The noise is keeping my children awake as it resonates through the house.
Its a fire risk, needs fixing soon as possible, don't wait for your electrician friend to be able to look at it, either call another electrician or see if you can sort it yourself.
Turn the main switch off, take the cover off, and tighten all the terminals of all the outgoing ways, re-assemble, switch back on and post back.
Oh, and do you actually have a 'fuse box' or is it a more modern unit with circuit breakers?
well, if you get stuck im in herts but id still say get your screwdriver out and take the case off (turn off the switch first!) and as above see if you can find any loose screws or see any visible browning of cables!
