Cabinet doors...

I've got a basic carcass planned for an alcove cabinet I'm planning on building. I'm having a bit of difficulty in deciding how to build the doors. The reason being is that i want to fit a small lock to it mortice type.

I was thinking of using 12/18mm ply for the basic door with a decorative trim, but somehow want to thicken the door stile to accept a small lock.

I'm sure there must be some templates I could use or some pictures/diagrams for inspiration!

Any advice most appreciated.

dependant on size why not make a door from 3x1 timber doweld with a rebate for ply and surface mount with flush hinges

this will allow you to be "less accurate" with your sizes and still fit

or from 3x2" timber doweled or half lapped flush fitting
together with ply pannels

what you choose depends on styl size ect

Thanks Al sounds like a good idea with the 3x1" Only problem being I'll have to purchase a router now! Never needed to use one before so great excuse
