Can anyone explain if I can use 1.5mm rather than 1mm cable.

I am wiring some halogen lights in a bedroom sealing in a daisy chain and the installation instructions say use 1mm cable.

I have a load of 1.5mm cable I am trying to use up so my question is can I use the thicker 1.5mm? I know I can't go the other way and use a smaller size.

Cheers,

Stefan.

Providing it will phisically fit in the terminals then yes, it is fine to use a cable bigger than required.

Stated sizes for conductors are minimums so generaly it`s OK to use bigger cables providing they can be connected and secured tightly
