I am moving a light switch by about 1m. The existing switch is currently wired with 1mm T+E cable.
I have already chased the wall and installed an oval conduit to house the new cable. Now, the thing is, by mistake i bought 1.5mm T+E instead of 1mm.
I would thing that there should be no problem if I use that... Right? Is there something I am not considering?

I guess you are moving the switch horizontally?
If you do that, and the existing wires come vertically down the wall, then you must not fill in the existing hole. You can put a blank plate there, however.

Reason? The location of the switch denotes the presence of the cable. The cable can run horizontally or vertically from the switch and creates a “zone” so that others recognise where cables might be. If you create a concealed dog leg then the original vertical cable run will not be obvious.

I am moving the switch across a door so I have chased vertically from the ceiling. I will however put a blank plate on the old switch as I will leave the disconnected cables inside

If you have chased a new channel on the other side of the door frame for the new switch position, it makes no sense to leave the old box and cable. Unless you are considering swapping back to it.

I would pull out the cable and remove it entirely then remove the old back box and make good.

I suspect he's using a blank plate because Taylor suggested it, without realising Lasix has in fact done a vertical chase with a completely new cable.

If you've completely disconnected the old switch cable, you can cut it off and fill over the old box.
