I live in an ex-council house 3 bed semi. My adjoining neighbour has had a campervan parked on his driveway for the past six months with the mother in law living in it. It's now been jacked up with blocks placed under the wheels to make it level and they have an extension lead from the house to provide power.

I have put up with it for this time but I'm thinking of selling my house and think it would put potential buyers off.

What permission should he have and what rights do I have?
Who could I report him to?

Contact the planning officers at your local council. Most councils will permit ( tolerate ) people livng in a camper van on a driveway for a few days as TEMPORARY additional accomodation but would object and possibly enforce against the use of the van as habitation after a month of continuous occupancy.

Can I suggest not doing anything about it until after xmas......

Is the neighbour still renting from the LA? I'm sorry but even if they were the best neighbours a semi with a council house next door is always going to be worth a lesser sum than 2 freehold properties. Unless it's in a Sussex Village.( speaking from experience)

remember if this turns into a dispute with them you will need to declair this when your selling
something best to avoid
