Can’t get radiators to turn off

Hi,

As it’s now summer I’ve wanted to switch off my heating entirely. It’s a modern system in a new build house. I’ve got a control panel (that now shows heating as off, hot water still on fine). I noticed that some of my radiators were still hot - even though on their controls I had turned each down to 0.

I then took a look at the boiler and it shows a heating symbol, so I switched the heating aspect of this off too. This then meant that the radiators were cold - great! BUT, I then took a shower the next day to find I had no hot water (tab water was still hot), I guess this comes from a tank in the airing cupboard. So, I then turned the boiler back on but am back with two radiators that are slightly warm.

I’ve got two switches (look like light switches) in the airing cupboard, I don’t know what either do (guess one is the immersion) but the highest one is turned on.

The tank in there makes intermittent noises, a 5-10 dull mechanical whining sound, followed by a higher pinched ‘climax’ type sound.

I have no idea how the heating system works and none of the instructions I have seem to work. Any help is much appreciated!

So let's start by asking the make and model of the boiler
Can you post a picture of said parts
Are the two rads in bathrooms

The radiators are at the bottom of the stairs and also in the living room (open plan with kitchen boiler in same room)

Need more information really , first thing I’d be looking at with no demand for heating at the programmer and room stat is to check that the 2 port valve (white box) which will have a silver leaver on the side is not locked open, leaver should be under resistance and not floppy when closed , danfoss 2 port valves which you have can keep the boiler to run and override external controls if they stick in the open position due to a seized valve spindle or stuck in its manual override position, you could also try with water only selected at the programmer feeling the pipe that exits the heating 2 port valve for let by. Post back with what you find ...

Should of said to establish what valve is controlling your heating establish which valve has a pipe connecting to the hot water cylinder , this will be the the hot water 2 port , the other one will be the heating 2 port this is the one that needs checking out.
