one of my interior handles has bust off and left the screw holes bust into the lock inside the door. i have have tried packing the holes with match sticks as a temporally measure,so just wondering if anyone could help,many thanks jake
you are talking about how to refix the handle to the door?
You might consider buying a larger, or different, handle, so that the screws go in a different place.
Or you might use longer or thicker screws, that will bite into fresh wood.
If the handle operates a tubular mortice lock, which is very narrow, there will be plenty of room above and below it for longer screws. If yours is a sashlock, with a large metal case morticed into the door, there is less wood round it.
