Can I fit a water softener to a Baxi Duo-Tec Combi 28HE

Hi all

We live in a hard water and I was thinking of fitting a water softener. Our plumber suggested a Culligan Waterside MC 450 and said he could fit it so that we have soft water upstairs but downstairs only the hot water would be softened.

However on doing some research I have discovered that

a) reviews for this water softener are not very good

and

b) it might not be possible to fit a water softener with this type of boiler.

Any advice or suggestions please?
