Can I use Compression Fittings with Plastic Pipe?

I'm looking to buy some plastic barrier pipe for my central heating system.
POLYPLUMB POLYBUTYLENE BARRIER PIPE COIL 22MM X 25M

Do I have to use the polyplumb expensive plastic fittings, or can I use standard compression fittings without any cons? Such as:

You can use compression fittings with plastic pipe no problem but don't forget to use inserts. Are you really going to save that much though? The correct plastic fittings are not that expensive and there is a considerable time saving. When used correctly they are very reliable and fittings can be installed in places where it would be difficult to get tools onto a compression fitting.

I will add though that if any of the pipework will be on show it should be done in copper or else it will look terrible.
