Can you buy thin 2 switch sockets

Daughters go a new house and the socket seems to be bulging in the middle so guessing it's either packed with wires or the back box too small, obviously rather not do the hassle of a new back box but do they do slim bodied 2 gang switch sockets, or even packers if needs be.

Not much use as it is a socket! Search for double socket spacers. Screwfix do them.

Often, people buy those thin metal sockets. Those need a lot more box space.

Whoops. I could have sworn I read that as a light switch. Anyway, same principle, spacer for whatever needs bringing out from the wall.

Meaning a 2 gang switch socket that has a thin profile so won't fill the back box as much. They're old switches so guessing they're fat and modern ones are a bit better designed leaving more room in the back box.

Also a few of the lugs seem to have gone on some boxes, if cutting a M4 thread into the lug and replacing the 3.5mm screws with 4mm a wise idea or any good reason not too?

Well, you can get switched and unswitched sockets which makes it confusing even more?

Yes. But the better solution is to get a 3.5mm rethreader tool, squeeze the lug a bit and use the rethreader.
