Can you connect two lighting circuit lives to one fuse on cs

Further to my earlier post about replacing the wiring on the kitchen light with proper T+E so i can earth the new metal fitting and switch...

Is there any reason why you shouldnt add the live for the new cable into the existing fuse for the old circuit on the consumer unit that is already powering the old light circuit ?

To clarify - this wont be adding an extra load on the existing circuit as the old kitchen light part will be removed from it, its just for ease of connection to the board, which is an old type with pull out fuses, and doesnt have a spare space to give a dedicated fuse for the kitchen light.

I have seen older fuse boxes that have two reds for the light circuit going into the one fuse, but dont know if there is any reason this should cause a problem with the load ?

As you are not increasing the load it should mnot be a problem.

So even though the one fuse will in effect be covering two circuits ( albeit one will only have one light on it ) this is OK ?
