Can You Use Speedfit Pipes With Strange Danfoss 10mm Olives?

I've just fitted a new towel rail, and connected 10mm Speedfit pipe to the valves.

The Danfoss Trv and lock shield came with strange olives, with a big groove in them. The pipe to lock shield joint sealed straight away, but the pipe to TRV joint just won't stop weeping.

As I tightened the nuts on these olives, the nut went loose, so I kept going until it was tight. No matter how much I tighten the TRV nut, it wont seal. I can't keep tightening or I'll break something!

Are these strange olives OK on plastic pipe? A friend suggested putting LSX on the olive, will this work?

Before you ask, yes I used pipe inserts

the "groove" in the olive collapses when you tighten it hence it feeling loose again

lsx or a couple of turns of ptfe should cure it

if the pipe is all the way in

Take it apart, check that the insert isn't damaged, and reassemble using a new olive.
