cant remove Mcafee from add/remove?

hi guys!,

Can anyone help me out here, i want to remove Mcafee from my system and install norton but when i try to uninstall mcafee from add/remove list on control panel i get error message 'Internet explorer script error' do i wish carry on runing scrips on this page 'yes' or 'no' click yes nothing happens, click no still nothing??

how do i fix script errors??

im running xp, all microsoft updates

help...

You can either set about repairing IE, or use McAfee's manual method.

BTW, Norton is a better product than McAfee, not a worse one, but I wouldn't recommend either of them, because there decent free products around that are less resource hungry and don't relay on a browser interface for you to operate them. ;)
 
thanks softus, cracked it, out of interest what anti virus scanner would you recommend
 
on the mcafee link there's a uninstall removal tool to download, would seem its not just me that cant uninstall it.. i will look at avg, many thanks

That's right - that's why I guided you to that web site.

To be fair to McAfee, they have provided a manual method for those occasions where the Windows tool fails, which isn't always McAfee's fault.
