I think the Capel DI 440 (still sold) is related to a Whirlpool - is this right? The manual mentions Whirlpool at one point.

This dishwaher halts mid cycle and beeps - the "on" light flashes 4 times which is an error status - the manual does not state what the error is - but says it is an error.

Any ideas? Anyone got the service manual?

Many thanks, Roy

To confirm it's a Whirlpool machine look on the side of the door, there should be 2 12 digit numbers, the first will start 85.
If these are present then 4 flashes indicates a draining failure.
If it drains ok when you reset it, reset by pressing and holding down the start button then you need to check the black grid below the filters.
A toothbrush is good for cleaning the gunk out of this. Be careful not to damage the diaphram when cleaning it.

Thanks of the reply - it appears (by the serial number on the side of the door) then to be a Whirlpool but :-
- it does give 4 error flashes (of the on light) when it stops
- But it does seem to drain ok - I've tested this while its doing a programmed rinse and the water pumps out ok and the program completes to the end ok - the filters don't appear blocked
- on a wash cycle it seems to do a pre-wash and empty ok then go on to the main wash but after about 15/20 minutes (while washing) it starts beeping - but carries on working for a short while - and then stops with the 4 flashes on the on light and refuses to proceed

Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks, Roy

When it start beeping and giving the 4 flashes, is it empty?
Is the drain hose into a stand pipe or a spigot under the sink?

I think its not draining but washing when this happens - can this be right? and it carries on for a short time doing this until it halts altogether.

The hose is fixed to a spigot pipe connector under the sink not hooked over into a the upright end of a stand pipe.

Thanks, Roy

If it stops full of water then it's a blockage in the drainage system, pump or faulty pump.
