Capping off unused lights (in accessible location)

Hi there.

We have some lights mounted in top of glass display cabinets in our kitchen, which are now surplus to requirements. The cable is not buried in the wall, it just runs up the back of the cabinets.

If I remove the connection to the light back to the next junction box, and leave these out in an accessible location (probably just drop the wires down the back of the worksurface and leave the junction box behind the - removable - kick boards), does that still follow regs and meet the 'safe zone' requirement?

I'd like to keep the wiring as we may want to reinstate in a different form at some point, but want the cabling to be safe in the meantime.

Finally, is it safest to also then remove the fuse from the wall switch which activates these lights, so they cannot be made live?

Is this served via an FCU / fused spur then?

Just coil the cable up with junction box and write a note on it. If you move out then remove the fuse to be on the safe side but it should have adequate protection inside a jb

Yes, the 2 lights are served by a single switch with a fuse.
