caravan 12v water pump

Hi,
I have a submersible 12v water pump for a shower in a caravan. What can I introduce to the circuit to change the output of water. I would like to vary the output using some kind of knob or such like. Much like a household dimmer switch.

Are we talking AC or DC?

EDIT: I might guess DC from the car battery, but not knowing much about caravans (just they are a bloody nuisense on the roads

) , I don't know whether caravans take power from the car or just plug into some kind of SELV supply when they are stationary or what?
