Hello all.

I'm using CAT5 FTP cable (Foil screened CAT 5) for my heating system control centre/network thermostats and it requires the use of CAT5 FTP with the drain shield wire grounded. This is all fine, BUT is best practice to sleave the drain wires in the wiring centre, or does one just bunch these up and wire them into groupd unsleaved?

Thanks,

V.

If there is a risk of them touching any of the conductors causing a short then sleeve them, when doing alarms with screened cable I tend to wind the drain wires together and share up to 4 in a single sleeve. I've never done heating with CAT5 but I imagine it will be similar.
