Sorry I am sure this has been done to death on here.

Looking for half decent system for my house looked at maplins swann range are they ok?

Need 4-6 cameras what should I look for in a system ?

Happy(not happy but will ) to spend up to about £500 is that realistic.

Swann are just over priced tat. You will not get a clear picture with that kit and definately not a clear recording.

Have a look at systemQ. You'll have to register to get on to the site.

They do a nitedevil fixed dome camera for about £100. It's a brilliant clear picture and works down to really low light levels.

Here's a couple of screen shots from mine down the side of the house. One in the daylight and one now at night.

Id be looking to spend £200 - £300 on a domestic DVR. If you only have £500, then buy a decent DVR with plenty of channels, and two cameras, then as funds allow, get the rest of the cameras.

I will spend whatever it needs thought the swann gear looked ok, but will look at better makes.
