Hi there.
I have purchased a ring security spotlights camera but the only power source in my loft is from the upstairs lights. I was thinking of running a 1.5 cable from the loop of the nearest light to power the camera or run it into a 13a fuse spur first before running cable to the camera. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, that's fine.

1mm² will be more than adequate.
Flex would be advisable if running outside - preferably black as it lasts longer (but longer is relative).

You don't really need a fuse but a double pole (L & N) switch would be a good idea and the FCU is likely cheaper than a suitable switch so may as well.

The camera will be outside so I'll change to the black flex definitely
Many thanx.
