CCTV Product & Installation Advice

Hi all,

A friend has asked me to help with CCTV installation on his farm. His requirements are as follows:

• DVR with monitor in the kitchen
  1 PTZ camera with good nightime visibility covering a yard approx 100m2, which is about 130m from the main house where the recorder will be
  1 bullet camera pointing at the front gate - again should be good night time visibility (50m from house)
  1 PTZ camera attached to the house covering the driveway

I'm looking at the kits available but concerned about the quality - and also the feasibility of running the image + power over such a distance. Can anyone advice on the camera specs I should be looking for, and whether the power/image will work over the cable lengths mentioned?

Distance for image ok but expect a standard bullet type camera to have 50 m of if lighting even if the specs say so half it... Or use some other forms of lighting..

unless someone is watching the monitors continually then PTZ is often unhelpful, as the camera will be pointing in the wrong direction when needed, but this is only discovered on viewing the recording when it's too late.

Good wide-angle megapixel IP cameras cover the whole area, but can be zoomed in on the recording after the event and still have enough resolution for identification *from the recording*

Depending on your budget you might consider the Panasonic WV-SW175e

It has on board operating system, and can be powered over the cat5 cable so only needing one cable to the camera. (I am told cat5 cable can be up to 100m long, but have not run them over more then 20m so far so can not verify that.)

Also they do respond to an infrared flood light once the relevant parameters have been adjusted.

They take an onboard 32GB SD card to record and are capable of being set up to automatically pan and tilt over the area on view, though I have not got my head round that yet.

Being an IP camera you can look at your place via the internet or 3G/4G phone.
