Hi

Can someone help me with choosing a cctv system

Budget is £350

Need 2 cameras for now. But may add 2 more later on

Need a camera by the front door and one at the top of the house to monitor drive.

Later will add cameras to monitor back.

Any good recommendations?

Thanks

Do a search here about this.
Answer is no.

£350 is the minimum you should spend on a DVR.

Have any good recommendations on where to buy?

Been looking on cctvdirect

There twilight vfc cameras look good

As I said I would not touch that.
If that is your budget and your happy then fine.
I cannot recommend something I would not supply and fit.

OK recommend me something you would fit and supply

Obviously cheap as possible.

Thanks

I dont mind upping the budget for quality.

Just dont want to spend to much

It is about quality, images. Longevity and ease of use.
Cheaper stuff fails on most if not all of those counts.

Also go for vari focal cameras. Unless you know the exact lens you need.
4-9 mm is a good starter. And if you move it or even move it can be adjusted.

Ahh I was going to link the other one to it but it showed out of stock.

You were right we need a CCTV sticky here.

Thanks for replys

What would be a good camera for placing near front door?
To see who is at the door etc. The camera would be just under a meter away. Im thinking a dome camera would be good here?

No simple answer. Depends on both ambient and any direct light.

When you say a metre away, - from what? the door? the person?

Ball park, based on your brief description, i'd say avoid IR. You WILL get bloom/white out as the person will be too close the camera/IR source.

Heres a pic from google images, This is not my house but is similiar.
The archway around the door is exactly the same.

I have put red arrows were i would place the cameras.

The one at the top would be pointing towards the driveway.
