I found CB radio (when legalised and you paid for a licence) quite useful on holiday trips, there were usually two cars of us , sometimes three and asking for directions, especially for navigating traffic jams and accident sites, very useful in its day, the locals were happy to recommend places of interest once you arrived. Whole communities of “good buddies” a forerunner of internet and satnav effectively and of course you could report some emergency without having to drive to find a telephone , it all seemed amazing at the time, I suppose that those who had a hand held unit were the first prophecy of today’s mobile smartphones (hand held but you’d need very big hands! lol.)
If you look at technology advances over a lifetime it’s quite impressive .
How long before we are able to walk into a releohone box and dial a number, walk out, and we are in Brisbane? Hmm , things that seemed impossible a few years back are everyday now.
