Ceiling rose wiring

As you have noticed, we could start an argument in an empty room on here!

I would identify the supply red and move the strapper red to COM in a direct swap with yellow and do the same downstairs, then disconnect the other switch and test.

I know the OP doesn't want to try and fix or make any changes, however this is incorrect advice for the record.

The downstairs also has 2 way switching. Yellow is being used in the COM terminal for the 2 way switching and yellow should likely remain there.
Upstairs light is being feed off upstairs circuit. It is a little dangerous, as it sounds like the upstairs and downstairs lighting MCB circuits can be linked when switches are in certain positions.

Fair point, I was going on the basis of a straight forward but mis wired two way switch. Slut made an assumption that we wouldn’t need to see the wiring at the ceiling rise so was never going to get a resolution to the issue.

If you can't understand 'two sets of wires, both with an earth, a red and a black wire' and need a photo to show that it then it doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in any advice you give, to be fair.

No, you didn't mention it explicitly.

But the mother of friend of yours, "mentally frail", and with memory problems:

It's not an unreasonable assumption.
I was politely saying she's a ditz, there was no reference to her age. You make a lot of assumptions.

I don’t understand where they are terminated on the rose, a picture etc. More assumptions

Seriously dude, quit with the trolling.

The whole reason for this post was because I couldn't remember 100% how the wires were originally connected in the rose. My suspicion was the reds were connected together and the blacks fed the light. This was confirmed and this is how I have left it.

Maybe read the thread?

How about you stopping getting so bent out of shape over reasonable assumptions and stopping calling people trolls?

No assumptions made here have been reasonable, they've been unfounded as far as I'm concerned, without basis.

It was assumed my friend's mother was old because I said she was mentally frail. That's an unreasonable assumption - anyone can be mentally frail, at any age. It was assumed I was charging for the help I was given when at no point had I said that or indicated as such. It was then said that I'd assumed it would be obvious how the rose was connected - this was not an assumption, that information is clearly available on this thread.

This is my first time posting here, I came for some help and whilst I did actually get that help (my thanks again to those helpful people) the majority of responses have been made by people riding in on their high horses and treating me like some kind of idiot.

How very welcoming of you all. I'm out, I have a life which I enjoy far more than arguing with keyboard warriors.

Maybe read the thread? And when you do, count the responses, the majority are not as you describe.

But you are right that people getting on high horses is a problem.

Not my call, as previously explained had you read the thread
I don't NEED to do anything. What part of 'not my house' and 'not my call' isn't clear here?
I don't remember mentioning she was elderly, that's your assumption.
You obviously think that bothers me?

I'm autistic, I don't suffer fools and I prefer to be direct. That a problem for you snowflake?

All of my responses were more than warranted, I give as good as I get.
