hello. i want to replace the crumbling cement on the gable end concrete roof tiles on my bungalow, having read other posts a mixture of 4 sand - 1 cement seems to be the correct ratio. would using sharp sand instead of soft sand be of any benefit, i vaguely remember reading in a diy book that sharp sand should be used.

We use 1 cement, 3 red building sand and 1 plastering sand.

It could be an old wives tale that I picked up off my old man but apparently the plastering sand works wonders with crack prevention. Anyway so far all the old work we have done is fine and uncracked and still lokks good!

We use a pva in the water too just for good measure.

Be good to see what the other guys use
