Hi all. I've just bought a 2 bedroom victorian house that currently has economy 7 installed. I'm going to be doing lots of work on it and a few people have suggested putting in central heating.

But none of them can give me a decent reason why I should spend approx £2000 putting it in. I'm a 27 year old bloke living on my own. I'm out at work all day so only spend a few evening's in each week.

I've not moved in yet so all the heating is off and when I've gone there it feels quite warm anyway, even in this cold weather. This is most likely because it's mid-terraced. I can't see I why I need central heating.

So what I need to know from you guys is:
What are the advantages of central heating over economy 7?
Is it worth it for me?
And what sort of installation cost am I looking at? (2 up, 2 down, approx 5-6 rads).

Cheers for any help.

it is a case of personal choice.

Economy 7 is electric where as central heating is usually gas. Central can also provide you with "instant" hot water for the sink (your current shower will be electric or via an imersion heater which is also electric)

When you come to sell your house central heating usually adds to the value (because it is usually preferd)

as for cost that depends on where you live i.e labour rate, get several quotes from Corgi registered heating engineers.
